Teaching and learning at Immanuel is delivered within the framework of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) and the Australian Curriculum.

A relevant curriculum

Our curriculum framework provides students with opportunities to develop the knowledge, concepts and skills they need to equip them for successful lives, both now and in the future.

With a strong focus on literacy and numeracy development, our teachers collaboratively plan learning to develop understanding of the 8 key areas of the Australian Curriculum. In addition we offer Christian Studies as a subject. We ensure that learning at Immanuel is authentic, purposeful and connected to the world. 

A significant curriculum

Our curriculum focuses on equipping our students to live and learn successfully and to gain an understanding of the world we live in. We explore globally significant ideas and issues that are ‘worth knowing’.

Our learners strive to model the International Baccalaureate learner profile attributes, which lay the foundation for students to develop and flourish as internationally-minded individuals. We do this by developing the attributes of being: inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective. 

A challenging curriculum

We design learning that is academically rigorous. Our curriculum allows our students to move from what they know through personal experience and prior knowledge into new understandings. Our teachers use student assessments and evidence to personalise learning and co-construct individual learning goals.

Teachers use a range of high impact instruction strategies to stimulate, inspire and allow students to excel and see what they are capable of.

An engaging curriculum

The intentional design of our curriculum allows for a range of inquiry-based, guided and explicit learning and teaching approaches. Teachers use a range of strategies, spaces and resources to inspire the imagination and creativity of learners, and encourage the process of inquiry, action and reflection.

We provide authentic opportunities for our students to develop understandings based on the Australian Curriculum learning outcomes, interests and needs.
