Immanuel Students use their Voice to Campaign, Innovate and Invent

Immanuel Year 6 students have been inquiring into the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development. As part of the process, students worked in collaborative teams to make a positive difference towards a goal of their choice. The culmination of this process was the sharing of their learning at an exhibition that was held last week. Congratulations to our students for successfully sharing their passions, expertise and their action with the wider community. You are already making a big difference and we are very proud of you.

The PYP Exhibition is held in every PYP school around the world, during students’ last year in primary school. It is a celebration and an opportunity for students to demonstrate how they have developed and applied their knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and learner profile attributes to an extended inquiry.

For the whole year, the students have been inquiring how “People use their passion and expertise to make a positive difference.”

Students spent time thinking about what they were passionate about and then selected a Goal to inquire into. Throughout their inquiry they demonstrated many skills including communication, time management, questioning and reflecting. Students took action in a range of ways including, advocating for change, raising money to help organisations, cleaning up the beach, educating younger students and running workshops.

Our Year 6 students were exceptional communicators and quite simply outstanding as they advocated and shared their new understandings and passion for change with students, staff, families and the wider community. Visitors to the exhibits commented on the students’ confidence and knowledge, their passion and commitment for change and their articulate communication skills.

They truly demonstrated their development as internationally minded students who make a positive difference in their lives and the lives of others.

Keep using your voice to make a difference.

Family Fun Day – What an awesome day!

What an amazing community we have at Immanuel Primary School. The Family Fun Day and Colour Run was a huge success with large numbers of families and friends attending. The P & F Committee and Class Carers did an outstanding job in organising this event and made sure there was something for everyone. It was wonderful to see our families enjoying all of the activities and delicious food on offer. We thank our many parent volunteers who supported us in the lead up to the event and on the day too. A highlight of the day was the Colour Run with a large number of parents, staff and students getting involved. It was a day of joy, fun and community spirit.  We are thrilled to announce that the Family Fun Day and Colour Run raised a tremendous $25,000 which will go towards the Nature and Maker spaces and resources for the learning spaces.

Cygnet wins Junior Primary Sports Day

Congratulations to Cygnet for winning the 2019 Junior Primary Sports.

What an exciting way to end the first week back at school. It was great to see so many parents, grandparents and friends supporting and encouraging throughout the day. The Year 3 House Captains started the day perfectly with their engaging welcome which was then followed by our Immanuel College Dance Troupe who led us in a health hustle. House spirit was evident all day. We are extremely proud of our students for their grit, team spirit and strong encouragement of one another throughout the day. Our Year 6 leaders were also super stars as they led the way assisting with the tabloid events, running races and for serving in the IPS Cafe.

Literay Legend ‘Phil Cummings’ Visited

Our school was fortunate to have local literary legend Phil Cummings visit us for two days.

Phil is the award winning author of over 80 books for children and is a South Australian icon. Over the two days, Phil engaged with every year level, sharing his stories and the stories behind his stories.  He captivated our students with his storytelling prowess and inspired them to write ‘fearlessly’. He was generous with his time and so approachable.

Thank you Phil for visiting us and inspiring students to become our future authors.

Sensational Showcase

The IPS Showcase started strong with the staff and student choir singing ‘The World is Ours’ the theme song for the 2014 World Cup. Over 140 students and staff were involved as they presented vocal, choral, orchestral, instrumental and dance performances throughout the evening.

It was a night of entertainment and pure joy. The audience were very responsive with their laughter, cheers and singing. A crowd favourite was the staff item, where staff performed ‘The Greatest Show.’

At Immanuel we are blessed with so many dedicated students and staff, who devote their time and talents above and beyond what is expected.

Thank you to the whole IPS community for celebrating the Showcase with us. I’m sure you would agree that it was an extremely high quality event and a wonderful opportunity for so many students to perform and shine. We now look forward to what our 50th Anniversary showcase will bring in 2020!
